Crystalline violet tungsten oxide has some difference with crystalline yellow tungsten oxide and crystalline blue tungsten oxide. That is because the oxygen content of these tungsten oxides varies from each other. And it is mainly reflected in appearance, molecular formula, boiling point and other properties.
The difference between violet tungsten oxide and yellow tungsten oxide and blue tungsten oxide is shown as below:
1. Violet Tungsten Oxide
(1) Also known as γ-tungsten oxide, abbreviated for VTO;
(2) Appears violet or blue-violet finely-divided crystalline powder;
(3) With molecular formula of WO2.72 or W18O49.
2. Yellow Tungsten Oxide
(1) Also called α-tungsten oxide, YTO for short;
(2) Appears yellow or yellow-green crystalline powder;
(3) With molecular formula of WO3.
3. Blue Tungsten Oxide
(1) Also called β-tungsten oxide, BTO or TBO on shortened form;
(2) Appears blue or dark blue crystalline powder;
(3) With molecular formula of WO2.9 or W20O58.
