High-purity ultrafine violet tungsten oxide, as a new material, is finding wider and wider applications in recent years. Under the same hydrogen reduction process conditions, the grain size of tungsten powder (W powder) prepared by using violet tungsten oxide (VTO) as raw material is finer than that of using blue tungsten oxide (BTO).
Therefore, manufacturers who produce ultrafine grain size tungsten carbide powder by using ultrafine tungsten powder as raw material are paying more and more attention to process improvement of ultrafine tungsten powder produced by violet tungsten oxide.
Although, the current research directions for producing ultrafine tungsten powder are mainly:
1. Improve the existing technology which uses blue tungsten oxide as raw material.
2. Adopt new reduction methods such as hydrogen reduction of halides;
3. Adopt new technologies such as laser and fluidization.
However, as described at the beginning, under the same hydrogen reduction process conditions, the W powder obtained by using VTO as raw material is finer than by BTO. Therefore, it is worth to studying the preparation of W powder from VTO.
