High Purity Tungsten Trioxide Nanopowder

High purity tungsten trioxide nanopowder may be used as a photocatalyst.

Hydrothermal Method to Produce Hexagonal Phase Tungsten Trioxide Ultrathin Nanosheet Photocatalyst
The hydrothermal method was used to prepare hexagonal phase tungsten trioxide (h-WO3) ultrathin nanosheet photocatalyst. And the role of urea played in the growth process of WO3 was studied. The thickness of the synthesized ultrathin nanosheet is about 5 nm.

In the reaction, the hydrolysis of urea plays an irreplaceable role. On the one hand, it slows the growth rate of tungsten trioxide; On the other hand, during the slow growth of tungsten trioxide, urea decomposes to provide NH4+, CO32- and other ions, enabling the hexagonal phase structure and ultrathin nanosheet to be generated.

Compared with nanowire photocatalyst and nanorod photocatalyst with the same crystal phase, the synthesized ultrathin nanosheet has more excellent photocatalytic activity.Rhodamine B solution in water picture
The synthesized hexagonal phase tungsten trioxide ultrathin nanosheet can degrade 86.6% of Rhodamine B after illuminated for 240 minutes.

Rhodamine B is a synthetic dye that is easily soluble in water, ethanol, and slightly soluble in acetone, chloroform, hydrochloric acid, and sodium hydroxide solution. It can be used as a fluorescent dye in laboratory cells, colored glass, special fireworks, etc. Experiments have shown that Rhodamine B can cause cancer and is now not allowed to be used for food dyeing.
