Tungsten Pentaboride

Tungsten pentaboride, also called tungsten boride (W2B5), is a black powder with chemical formula of B5W2, molecular weight of 428.79100, exact weight of 430.00300, CAS No. of 12007-98-6, melting point of 210~214°C and boiling point of 110°C (1 Torr). It is somewhat toxic.

Preparation Method
In a vacuum or argon atmosphere, sintered at the temperature range of 1200~1300°C with 2mol tungsten powder and 5mol boron powder.

Applications
1. For fine chemicals.
2. As a pharmaceutical intermediate or materials intermediate.boron powder picture
Toxicity
1. Accidental contact may cause skin irritation and burns. Therefore, you must wear protective equipment such as gloves, goggles and masks in operation to avoid eyes, skin and clothing direct contact with B5W2.
2. It may do harm to body if it is eaten by mistake, so, you should avoid inhaling smoke and powder of B5W2.
3. Used in a ventilated environment. You should thoroughly clean the body and gargle after operation is completed.
