As a transparent thermal insulation nanopowder, nano blue tungsten oxide has many excellent characteristics, such as high temperature resistance, uniform particle, anti-aging, resistance to acid and alkali, etc., and thus can be used for producing transparent thermal insulation film, which is mainly applied in building glass and auto glass.
Some ammonium paratungstate powders produced by different manufacturers and different processes were used as raw material to be reduced to blue tungsten oxide under the same conditions. Tests were conducted to find that:
1. The preparation methods of raw material ammonium paratungstate have little effect on the phase change and phase composition during the reduction of blue tungsten oxide.
2. The morphology and particle size of raw material ammonium paratungstate are strongly hereditary for the reduction of blue tungsten oxide. The blue tungsten oxide particles reduced by the ammonium paratungstate having the characteristics of flower-like agglomerated particles have smooth surface and few cracks.
