Tungsten oxide is a type of NIR-shielding material with high transparency although it is slight blue in color, which can be applied for the production of thermal insulation film.
Study on Tungsten Oxide/ Solvent type Polyurethane Composite Film
The composite heat insulation film can be prepared by using tungsten oxide (WO3) powder and solvent type polyurethane (PU) as raw material. After the dispersed WO3 suspension and the PU were degassed and stirred, the composite film was formed by using a coating machine. After a series of tests, the results showed that:
1. On the thickness, the difference of the thickness of film without adding WO3 powder and the one added is about 10μm.
2. In terms of stretching, film with and without WO3 powder have a tensile strength difference of only 15% and a value of approximately 47MPa.
3. In the aspect of the near-infrared shielding ratio, when the amount of WO3 powder added reaches 0.25wt%, the near-infrared shielding ratio of the composite film can reach more than 90%.
4. In terms of heat absorption, it has the effects of fast heat absorption and rapid heat dissipation.
