Tungsten trioxide powder for thermal insulation master batch may be prepared by hydrothermal method using Na2SO4 as an additive. And the obtained tungsten trioxide was analyzed to know its photocatalytic performance. The sample was a hexagonal phase tungsten trioxide nanowire obtained using 0.125M Na2SO4 as an additive.
The sample was used to direct photodegrade rhodamine B solution under irradiation in sunlight. The experimental results were shown in the following picture. In the picture, “a” was the UV-visible absorption curve, “b” was the photocatalytic activity of the sample.
As can be seen from “a” in the picture, under the condition that the tungsten trioxide catalyst was added, the absorbance of Rhodamine B solution in the wavelength band of 550-600nm showed a sharp downward trend with the increase of the illumination time. The absorbance of Rhodamine B solution before photodegradation was 0.93074. After 150min of visible light, the absorbance of Rhodamine B solution became 0.03716. According to the formula of degradation rate, the degradation rate after light irradiation for 150min was 96.01% (b). It shows that the hexagonal tungsten trioxide nanowires obtained using 0.125M Na2SO4 as an additive have good photocatalytic activity.
