Tungsten trioxide powder has photochromic properties so that it may be applied for producing nano-ceramic dispersion solution. However, there have been few reports on the photochromic properties of tungsten trioxide. In such studies, the requirements for photochromic excitation light sources are demanding. For example, currently, it is reported that the best requirement for the excitation light source of tungsten trioxide photochromic powder is 350W high-pressure mercury lamp, which greatly limits its practical application.
Therefore, there are two problems in the current research of tungsten trioxide powder:
1. The research on the morphology of the synthesized WO3 photochromic powder is relatively simple.
2. The synthesized WO3 powder has poor photochromic sensitivity. And it requires harsh excitation light sources.
The organic induction synthesis method may prepare tungsten trioxide powders with various morphology. And this production method provides new ideas and approaches for the synthesis of special-shaped WO3 powders. It means that the application of WO3 will be extended.
